No harm in pronouncing films as ‘women-centric’: Vidya Balan

Vidhya balan who has been the face behind the women centric movies such as “Kahani” and the “ Dirty Picture”, says that there is no harm in calling a movie “Women Centric”. It has been a stereotype that every movie made in Bollywood was casted and termed as “ Male Centric” . When we actually see women in the lead role we say its Women Centric and definitely there is no harm in it calling so. On the site of MAMI Mubai International Fil Award Vidhya added “At this point of time we need it, may be after sometime we won’t need it”. On the other hand if we talk about a similar gesture actress Kangana Ranaut than its her call that “its not about male or female centric movies its just about the character we play”. The two actress were both at the session of the Mumbai International Award MAMI, along with Shabana Azmi and Kiran rao. Shabana complimented the work done by Kangana and Vidhya and said that there have been many women centric movies in the past with Nutan, Meena Kumari and Mala Sinha, but later there was a phase of a women shown as Sacrificing wife, sister and loving mother that was stereotypical for sure. It is surely a good perk to see women playing Protagonist roles.
