Air pollution: What is PM2.5 and how does it harm our health?

Delhi the national capital of India has been graphing the increasing level of Particulate matter PM just after the Diwali celebrations, that has eventually increased the health issues of the residents. Particulate Matter is basically a microscopic solid or the liquid matter that keep suspended in the air and puts adverse effect on the human health. This is in short the mixture of smoke, metals, sulfates, dust, water soot and rubber. The more the big is the particulate matter the more effect it causes PM10 refers to the largest one and PM 2.5 to the smallest particle.
Health effects of particulate matter As the PM is smaller PM 2.5 it will be very easy for it to enter our respiratory tract and enter the lungs. It may even mix in the blood stream som eof the health issues related to it are :
  • Coughing continuously
  • ¬†breathing issues
  • Irritation in the parts like eyes, nose and throat
  • increased issues related to asthma
  • ¬†chronic respiratory disease in children
  • Nonfatal heart attacks in elderly people
  • Premature death in individuals with existing heart or lung disease, including death from lung cancer
